MEDICARE - Supplement Plans
Medicare Supplement insurance plans – also known as Medigap plans – work with Original Medicare, Part A and Part B, and may help pay for certain costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. With a Medicare Supplement insurance plan, you are still enrolled in Original Medicare, Part A and Part B. While Medicare covers 80% of your Medicare-approved healthcare expenses, the Medigap plan follows up to cover the remaining 20% of those same Medicare-approved healthcare expenses, preventing the out-of-pocket cost to you.
MEDICARE - Advantage Plans
A Medicare Advantage Plan, also known as Medicare Part C, is a Medicare health plan offered by a private insurance company. These plans include all the benefits and services covered under Part A and Part B, and can sometimes cover additional benefits and services as well. Most Medicare Advantage Plans usually offer prescription drug coverage, or Medicare Part D.
MEDICARE - Part D Plans
Medicare Part D, or Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, help cover the cost of prescription medications and, like Medicare Advantage Plans, are offered by private insurance companies. If you don’t join a Part D plan when you’re first eligible, and you don’t have other creditable prescription drug coverage (such as through an employer or union), you may pay a late-enrollment penalty if you choose to join later.
